HI, I’M MARGARITA
Raised in New York, now based in London - I am a bilingual ESL tutor and business communications trainer. I have worked with more than 500 clients over 15 years - helping people feel confident with their English in everyday situations, as well as training business professionals to communicate in their career.
I am CELTA and TKT-certified, but my teaching style goes beyond classic teaching models - it is structured, intensive, and highly personal. I have lived and worked in different cultures - and I actually understand how people think, learn, and communicate in real-life situations.
From a business perspective, I have worked as Head of VIP and Protocol - which means I know how business communication works from the inside and how to understand my client and his needs in business environment.
I have degrees in Cinema Studies (New York) and International Law (MGIMO) and recently received training in Psychology and Coaching (University of Oxford).

I was born in Moscow and grew up in New York, where I graduated as a BA in Cinema Studies in 2008. During that time, I developed my love for writing as a film critic, received a Longman Publishers Writing Award in Creative Writing category and started teaching English, which soon grew into a long-time profession.
In 2011, I moved for work to Moscow, where I lived and worked as an International Producer and Head of VIP Department in events and protocol. At that time, I also received my LLB in International Law degree at MGIMO. I continued teaching English to top executives and private clients, and received my CELTA- and TKT- teaching qualifications. In 2022, I moved to London where I’ve done training in Psychology & Coaching at Oxford. I now teach for pleasure and passion, mostly to expats and relocates, who are building their new lives in English-speaking countries.

Experience. 17 years of teaching and training.
I am a rare combination: a native speaker, bilingual, and a professionally trained ESL teacher. Also a professional writer. This means I can explain the nuances of the language as a native, but in a simple and structured way because I understand the side of my client too.
I know how to work with different clients - I worked in VIP and Protocol Services in a senior role so I know that clients have different goals, learning styles and expectations.

My teaching philosophy is very simple - I believe that everyone learns differently, and needs a different approach and strategy. I don’t use a single textbook, or a universal plan - every client gets his own unique
My classes are also focused on active learning where I follow the 80/20 rule, meaning you spend around 80% of the class time speaking and practicing skills that you’ve learnt.

My standard rate starts at £70 per 60 minutes, and it includes our time together plus the time I spend after each class to plan and prepare. I actually spend much more time than you see behind-the-scenes (sometimes counting up to several hours for a class).
